Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the City Museum. My name's Helen, and I'll be your guide for today's visit. Before we begin, I'd like to tell you a little about the layout of the museum, so you can find your way around.

The museum is arranged over two floors. As you come through the main entrance, you'll find the information desk directly in front of you, on your left as you enter. The cloakroom, where you can leave coats and bags, is just past the information desk, next to the café.

On the ground floor, to your right, is the gift shop, and beyond that is the temporary exhibition hall, which currently shows a collection of photographs from the nineteen twenties.

The permanent galleries are all on the first floor. When you go up the main staircase, the Egyptian gallery is the first room on your right. The Roman gallery is directly opposite the Egyptian gallery. At the far end of the corridor, you'll find the natural history gallery, and the children's discovery room is located between the Roman gallery and the natural history gallery.

The museum café is on the ground floor, through the glass doors at the back of the entrance hall. We serve hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes. Lunch is served from midday until two thirty.

Now, a few practical notes. Photography is allowed in the permanent galleries, but please do not use a flash. The temporary exhibition is strictly no photography. You'll find the toilets on both floors: the ladies' is next to the café, and the gentlemen's is by the information desk.

We close at five o'clock today, and the last entry to the galleries is at half past four. Please be back at the entrance by quarter to five, so we can do a final headcount. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me now, or catch me in the galleries.
